Description
Rock N Roll Brewery, LLC is new to Colorado, but not without a big history behind it. Owner and founder “Steve Maas” has been brewing commercially since the mid 1980’s. His first licensed brewery was located in the Albuquerque, NM area and was called the Manzano Mountain Brewing Company. The brewery had won countless ribbons, and Steve was one of the early pioneers of hand crafted licensed breweries. Distributed throughout the Southwest, Manzano Mountain Brewing Company’s flagship beer was called Class Axe Beer, which was the name of Steve’s touring Rock N Roll band called Class Axe. The band logo was used for the bottle labels. The style of this quality ale as a red IPA that boasted a great mixture of barley malt and a huge hop aroma and finish. Many interesting visitors had toured Steve’s old brewery. While Micky Rourke and his crew were filming The Last Outlaw in Santa Fe in the early 90’s, Micky and his crew bought every bottle of Class Axe Beer available for sale in the area. Micky Rourke loved the beer so much he sent his location manager to try and find the brewery so they could buy a large supply of Class Axe for him and his crew. After 3 weeks of looking, they finally found are small mountain brewery. Rock N Roll Brewery will be brewing the old flagship IPA again, but it will be called it Zombie Jam.
Other famous visitor to the Manzano Mountain Brewing Company was none other than England’s own Michael James Jackson. Serious craft beer enthusiasts know of Michael Jackson. If you are not familiar with his background, Michael was the worlds most respected craft beer expert and has written many books on the quest for the ultimate craft beers. Michael had toured hundreds of breweries in the United States and many other countries in search for the world’s best breweries. Michael gave a great review of Steve’s beer after visiting the Manzano Mountain Brewing Company in the early 1990’s. What was even more of a thumbs up to Steve’s flagship ale (Class Axe beer),was that Michael slammed down several large mugs of Class Axe Beer while visiting the brewery. His chaperone that was assisting Michael on his national tour told us that he would rarely drink more than a half a glass before moving on to the next brewery. If Steve’s beer is good enough for Michael James Jackson, chances are it will pass the taste test for the most serious craft beer enthusiasts.
Why do our beers demand an encore from the crowd? The key to brewing good beer is to Keep It Simple. Nothing can beat a genuine bottom fermenting Old World English ale, or a traditional European top fermenting lager or pilsner. We never consider cost first, and we only use the best malts, hops, and yeasts available. Our brewery will never jump the gun by selling any of our new beers before the recipe is refined and passes the taste test from the pickiest in the business. Above all, we always pay attention to detail. A great beer needs a good balance between bitter and sweet, color should be defined my taste not just looks, an aroma that lures you in and holds you there, and what many breweries don’t seem to care about… we are obsessed with, and that’s an extended head retention that will not disappear quickly. Whether you’re new to exploring craft beers, or a hard core beer enthusiast looking for the best… Look no further than the all new Rock N Roll Brewery. Cheers and we hope you enjoy our concert in a glass.
